Update: Back to training today after Christmas break. I’m feeling really fit and healthy starting 2020 and can’t wait to get competing again! I’m now into my 4th week of my training block and have 2 more weeks left before I’m back on the road. Time to ramp up the tennis!

Update: I’m now coming to the end stage of my rehab. Currently on a 4 week cycle of increased load in the gym and less time on court. I’m progressing well, and feeling stronger and stronger every day! Hoping to be ready for competition in February.

Update: Hi everyone. Just to update everyone on my recent training block and what I have been up to. I finished my tournaments for 2019 in the middle of November, in Sicily. I played for most of October and November with a bit of inflammation around my rotator cuff (infraspinatus) so had been in a little bit of pain on both my serve and forehand for my last few tournaments of the year. In spite of this, I finished these tournaments well, winning two $15,000 doubles tournaments, taking my year end doubles WTA ranking to 718, and my singles to 1183 after winning a few first round main draws. In light of my pain in my shoulder and general fatigue, I decided to finish my year there, to give my shoulder a deserved rest and then rebuild for 2020. I used the rest of November to recover both physically and mentally; I had some physio sessions for my shoulder, and spent some restorative time in the gym, working my shoulder in many planes to get it stronger and less vulnerable to injury. And I also had some much needed rest. As it turned to December, I turned more to a strength and fitness block at the start of the month to lay good foundations for next year. Then in the last couple of weeks I have been gradually getting back into tennis - I am pleased to say that my shoulder is doing well and I am pain free. As a result, I have been able to put a lot of good work on court with the great team at Halton before Christmas. I had my last pre Christmas on court session today with Ed and Beth.
P.s Peep my dog watching on as I work out. He comes everywhere with me when I am home. And I am lucky enough that everyone in the office at Halton are happy to provide a makeshift 'doggy daycare' for him and me when I am on court! I am very grateful for that.
